Starbucks Corp. (NASDAQ:SBUX) and Yahoo Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) have partnered to launch the “Starbucks Digital Network,” PCMag.com reports Wednesday.
The network offers a web content package in Starbucks’ 6,800 retail stores, to use with its free Wi-Fi services.
The network offers news, entertainment, business and careers, wellness, My Neighborhood and Starbucks channels.
Other content partners include Foursquare, LinkedIn, The Weather Channel, Bookish Reading Club, New Word City and Good.
Users will be able to access the Starbucks Digital Network through their laptops, smartphones and tablet computers using Starbucks’ Wi-Fi network.
vice president of Starbucks Digital Ventures, Adam Brotman, wrote in a blog post, “The team at Starbucks wanted to enhance the time our customers spend in our stores, so we had a vision to create something new, localized, unexpected… and online, The Starbucks Digital Network was developed to provide customers instant access to a collection of hand-picked premium news, entertainment and lifestyle content along with free downloads, local insights and events from nearly 20 different content providers including iTunes, Nick Jr. Boost, Rodale, WSJ.com and Yahoo! It’s all free and only available at Starbucks.”
